Ryde Carnival (30/8/2018)

Please pass on our thanks to the Band for a fabulous performance. I hope that they enjoyed joining our Main Carnival this year as the crowds undoubtedly did. Kind regards, Liz Allen (Chair of Ryde Carnival Association).

Concert at St Helens Church (31/5/2018)

On behalf of the churchwardens of St Helens Church, the PCC and all the congregation, and of course Ali, our priest-in-charge, may I extend a sincere thank you to all the Wight Diamonds Marching Band, for the superb concert on Thursday night, it was just perfect. The professionalism, the varied programme of music, and the obvious love of music shared by all the musicians made it a real joy to hear, and be a part of. It’s so valuable, these days especially, to nurture and encourage the younger generation as you all are, to share and enjoy your love of music, of discipline and team work. Well done to you all… Kind regards, Mary (PCC member).

60th Wedding Anniversary Party, Tapnell Farm (19/5/2018)

The band very kindly came to a private function recently to perform a short musical routine with marching. They ticked so many boxes I was delighted, impressed and very, very grateful. First, they were punctual, second, they were extremely smartly presented. They performed the music and marching with great concentration and given it was on grass at a venue they did not know and had not been able to rehearse on they were in time and played excellently. They are comprised of a diverse range of members, young, not so young, and all enthusiastic about what they do. The gathered audience enjoyed the routine immensely and were very impressed. We were very lucky to have had their visit – thank you so much Wight Diamonds… grateful thanks. I wish you much success and enjoyment with your music.

Rookley Summer Show (16/7/2016)

I just wanted to say a very big thank you for your part in making Rookley Summer Show a success. As ever, you were the perfect way to kick off the proceedings and, personally, my favourite part of the day. Seeing you marching in your tunics, out on our field with the Hall, the hill behind and all the trees makes all the effort worthwhile… Hope you have an enjoyable and successful summer. Sonya RigaudBarrett, Rookley Village Association.

Brighstone Grange Fete (18/6/2016)

I just wanted to thank you and the Wight Diamonds for your performance at Brighstone Grange. We all enjoyed it very much, the residents and visitors are full of praise for you all. Royal British Legion Isle of Wight County Newsletter (January 2016)

We are very fortunate on the Isle of Wight to have so many talented bands and musicians. Cowes RBL Band, Medina Marching Band, Vectis Corps of Drums, Wight Diamonds and Ryde Sea Cadets have all turned out to support not only their branches but also our County events… Mr. Terry Clarkson, County Parade Marshal, said “the commitment and input from the bands, and particularly the band masters, has been of great value to me as the County Parade marshal in what has been a busy year for the RBL on the Island”. The RBL County would like to say a huge “Thank you” to all the musicians and support staff for all you have done to help us during this past year. This has been in addition to their normal busy schedule. We wish you a very successful 2016.

Charity Concert in aid of Red Cross (17/11/2015)

Please pass on my thanks to the band, their enthusiasm is brilliant and I loved the ‘Instant Concert’ irrespective of how many actual tunes were included! (audience member)

Charity Concert in aid of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (10/10/2015)

Thank you very much for inviting me to the Wight Diamond concert last night; it was a fantastic evening… please pass on my congratulations to Band Master Andy, the brilliant soloists and all the fine musicians. Although my ears took a bit of a bashing I thought the Corps of Drums were exceptional, their hours of practice was obvious given the precision of their performance. Please thank everyone involved for giving up their Saturday evening for a charity that is so vital to our Island. Best wishes, David, (Mayor of Cowes).

Rookley Summer Show (18/7/2015)

On behalf of Rookley Village Association I should like to say a very big ‘Thank You’ to you and your Band for your part in making Saturday’s event such a successful one. I know I’m not the only one who absolutely loves seeing you march around our field in the sunshine playing your rousing music. I particularly liked the Superman piece! We raised an excellent amount of money towards the maintenance and annual charges of the Village Hall and Sports Field, which should enable us to continue to keep the rental charges for local groups as low as possible… Best wishes, Sonya RigaudBarrett, Rookley Village Association.

Royal British Legion VE Day Event, Puckpool (9/5/2015)

An email received by Terry Clarkson (Parade Marshal on the day)

I visited Puckpool Park this afternoon with my family and thoroughly enjoyed the music. Firstly the ladies singing, while others danced to the music of the time I guess of the war years. The bands were also very impressive. If you could help me with the music which the Piper played with the Marching Bands I would be very grateful, my wife and I found it very moving and would like to know what it was. Thanks to all for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Article from the Community News page of the ‘Hayling Islander’ newspaper (June 2014)

Regarding the concert Wight Diamonds performed in aid of the Red Cross on Hayling Island (11/5/2014)

The Wight Diamonds Marching Band arrived at the Eastoke Plaza to give a free concert in aid of the British Red Cross on a very windy day. They really struggled to keep their sheet music under control, but gave a great performance for 45 minutes. We thank them very much for their brilliant work under really difficult conditions. The flautist was heard to say that there was more wind going through the flute than she was able to blow in! Unfortunately the wind kept the audience away but those who did attend thoroughly enjoyed it and we raised £40.

Freshwater Independent Lifeboat Naming Ceremony (4/5/2014)

Great brass band did us proud on our naming day! Thanks to you and all your team, especially the lovely girl on the cymbals; did you proud! Kind regards, Mr Perry Clifton (FILB Hon. Secretary).

St George’s Day Parade, Ventnor (27/4/2014)

Thank you for your help in the arrangements for this year’s parade. All went off well with no problems. I did try to thank all the band members yesterday but please pass on my grateful thanks for their splendid efforts. All the people that attended said how nice it was to follow a band, and it is surprising how many people with children rushed to the road from their houses to watch us pass. Keep up the good work! Barry.

Carol playing at Sainsburys (16/12/2013)

Wight Diamonds Marching Band would like to thank Sainsburys for inviting us to come and play a selection of Christmas carols and festive music in their foyer. Bucket collections raised over £90 for our band funds and we are extremely thankful to the staff and customers for their generosity.

East Cowes Christmas Market (14/12/2013)

Concert at St Michael’s Church, Ryde (19/10/2013)

Please convey our thanks to all the members of the band for their wonderful concert last Saturday. We were particularly impressed with the wide age range of the players, and not least the calibre of the younger members who were all so smart, and obviously proud of their uniforms and so well behaved and disciplined. What a wonderful rebuttal of those who think all ‘youth’ are bored and indifferent to decent music. We were sorry that the attendance was not as good as we had hoped, but those who were there thoroughly enjoyed the evening. On behalf of the people of St Michael’s and with our sincere thanks, George.
